3rd star coin is in the room with the giant chomper plants, kill them so they are out of the way (I prefer fire mario, it can be tricky timing though), grab the red koopa, hit the switch… (you will have to bounce the shell off something and re-catch it at least twice to compensate the delay and length of the course, and the best place I found is right before the “donut blocks” section), once you make it all the way to the end use the shell to assist your jump up to Link and follow the hidden path…

That 1st star coin is one of the hardest ones in the game-like the 2nd star coin in 3-C. The hardest is the 3rd one in 6-A.

It’s correct but I prefer TURTLE shell, since he is the only “Mario” that can cancel carrying items without moving his ass
